It can be hard to predict the likelihood of your employer giving you a long leave. Even when you are ready to forgo your pay.
It may not be required that all organizations have an existing sabbatical policy. However, for companies that grant sabbatical leave; a few of them continue paying their employees. Yet others suspend their employees’ benefits for the period of the sabbatical. Usually, the sabbatical can last from 2 months to about a year.
Most people take career breaks after clocking the 60-hour work weeks for different reasons. This can include taking time for their family and themselves. It can also be for reevaluating their careers, treating themselves at a Luxury Hotel, travelling the world, or even to rebound with their loved ones etc. It is important for you to consider if taking a break is worth the career sacrifice or not. That is whether your employer will not be paying for the break.
Taking a sabbatical has many benefits some of which includes…
Find Out About The Organization’s Sabbatical Policy
This could seem like a big leap, even then search through the worker manual for reference of sabbatical benefits. You can also choose to ask a trustworthy human resources officer. It happens that employers are open to employees going in and out of their personnel. Even then many companies do not yet have formal policies in place with regards to taking sabbatical leave.
Get Creative
People are at their creative best at times when they are not laden by other obligations or even monotonous processes. Therefore, when you are out on a work break. You could give more time to some of your interests and passions.
Possibly out of it you could get the realization within you during the sabbatical to really do what you love. From this, the likelihood of an engineer turning into a writer or even a photographer during the work break is not unheard of. Inspiration, passion, as well as creativity, flow when the pressure of obligation and accountability fall off.
The Break Should Not Overwhelm You
The play revolving around the career-break may seem tempting. However, it is your responsibility to not let your vacation impact your work and talent. You could go on a sabbatical for the amount of time you wish. Even then keep in mind that once you return to work it will be a fresh start.
In addition, do remember that once you are back, you will need to get off the vacation mood. This also means leaving the laziness bug behind. Sabbaticals are as good as they sound. But only if you are well prepared to deal with issues with greater spirits. More so as you are starting a career or a job anew.
Slow Down, Rejuvenate And Rewind
Making wonderful memories and spending time with your loved ones is what life is about. Thus taking a sabbatical can help create lots of them. Although a mundane workday lets you have little time for family. A break from work allows you direct your full attention to your loved ones. Reckon you are with people who are most important to you; having fun, creating memories, remembering the old ties and exploring together new things.
While you are there, you will realize that those things you stressed about each day do not have a crucial standing outside your workplace. These breaks will actually help you remember about those things that are important in your life than work. These are things such as your relationships and certainly your health. Besides, being revitalized makes a new start filled with spirit and zest.
Formulate a Positive Pitch
Prior to mentioning your idea of a sabbatical leave to any one of your colleague, cautiously formulate an optimistic story of things you would like to do, when and why you will return. Using the word ‘sabbatical’ adds some strength to it. Sabbatical comes across as a plan; this means a certain given time and reflection. Since this word has some strength, you then will have to fulfil the expectations.
It Is Never The Right Time
Retirement is inevitable, but youth is in the now. Therefore do not have a bucket list, of which half will not be fulfilled until after you turn over 65. There is no harm in enjoying your hard earned cash on yourself. More so when you still have the health and ability to do so. Careers are made and work will not stop.
It is a good idea to start saving immediately since this happens to be the major hurdle for many people. However, for you ta have a great sabbatical, the amount you need could a portion of your regular expenses. Most people on work break tend to not go to areas where the living costs are lower. The good thing is that travelling needs little infrastructure. Create a plan to cover your obligations when you are away. Above all do not let the uncertainty prevent you from taking a sabbatical.

You just keep getting BETTER!
LOVED the photos you used.
I never had the opportunity {with my Bride and our kids} to support to take a sabbatical. But I love the idea for those who can “swing it.”
For the rest of here are a few things I employed {YES and YEA….working for ME, not THEM.}
Have a hobby that you can spend time on regularly; really PLAY with your kids; do something special with and FOR your “better-half”; find and MAKE time for daily prayer.
All of these things are Streeeeess relievers.
Easter Blessings,
Patrick

I totally agree that playing with kids are the best stress reliever. Even though sometimes they might be the cause of stress but if you look beyond that and into their innocent souls, you’ll find beauty in their eyes.
