4 Employee Perks that Won’t Bust The Budget of SMEs

Even though there are many factors that contribute to the success of a company, employee satisfaction does play a pivotal role. After all, happy employees are an imperative part of keeping a business going.

While the usual benefits of salary, promotion opportunities, and overall work environment do play a part in ensuring your team’s satisfaction, perks are not to be forgotten. In fact, they are a factor of consideration when an employee is deciding if they should stay or go.

As bigger companies have a larger budget and are thus capable of providing their employees with luxurious vacations, grand parties, and fancy gifts, that doesn’t mean that you’d have to be at a disadvantage. As an SME, even with a limited budget, it’s possible to provide great perks by thinking out of the box while being aware of the cost.

Below are some suggested perks that won’t bust your budget.

Outings

It’s always nice to spend some quality time with your fellow employees and do something that involves being outside of the office.

These outings don’t have to be anything too pricey. In fact, there’s a lot that can be done without overspending. You can head to a nearby park to have a picnic, volunteer for a special cause together or even attend a fitness class.

Going for an outing together would also help strengthen relationships between your fellow employees and improve overall company spirit.

A Flexible Schedule

Each employee is different and may have varying degrees of productivity depending on the time of day. Some individuals may be more productive in the morning while others are more so in the afternoon.

With flexible working hours, your employees would be able to plan a schedule that works best for them. This would not only help them feel more in control, it would also result in higher productivity.

In addition to flexible working hours, having occasional Friday offs would also be beneficial to employees. Due to how busy it can get during the weekends, it can sometimes be difficult to get things done. Before you know it, the weekend’s over and it’s back to the work week.

With occasional Fridays off, employees can use that time to run errands while using the weekend to recuperate and spend quality time with their family and friends.

Food Fuel

While it may not seem like much, having a snack parlor or occasional free meals would help to keep your employees in tip-top shape.

The snack parlor can have healthy snacks to keep energy levels high to power your employees through the workday. It can also have snacks chosen by the employees themselves and rotated on a monthly basis.

Free meals can range from pizza day to salad lunches or even breakfast sandwiches. You could even add the free flow of coffee to the mix.

Employee Discounts

Everybody’s a huge fan of discounts. Allowing employees to have discounts for the products or services that your business is providing would also help them better resonate with the brand.

Other employee discounts could also be for restaurants around the area, beauty treatments, retail shops and more. The possibilities are endless and the discounts don’t have to be over the top.

While not all of these perks might work for you depending on the nature of your company, they’ll at least get you started. These perks will be sure to keep your team satisfied while adhering to your company’s strict budget.

Workforce of today do look forwards towards these perks as they are helpful in not only solidifying the fact that their employer values them, but also brings out a little extra from their work.

  3. Another GREAT topic my friend,

“Bosses” tend to GET as they GIVE.

My favorite job as a non manager was a sales position.

Saturdays were always the busiest day’s, so the Boss wold provide lunch for everyone {so no one HAD to leave the store for lunch.} The lunch varied every week . {BTW, I’d always eat late so I could get more sales}.

The store had a store purchase discount where anything and everything could be purchased for 10% above actual cost.

    They also had a Million Dollar in annual-sales club, and a very fancy outside Dinner for those able to achieve this goal {I did it in 7 months}

And daily, and monthly accumulative sales for ALL stores were posted in the Breakroom for ALL sales employees to see.

BUT everyone had to work a six day week and no weekends off except for paid vacations.

It was a labor of LOVE for me.

    God Bless,
    Patrick
