COVID-19 has changed pretty much everything we know, especially when it comes to our careers. Some of us lost our jobs because we are part of the industries that are affected the most by the pandemic. While others are still uncertain if their jobs will last even after the pandemic.
If you are looking for work during this time, don’t be disheartened if you think that there won’t be any available jobs for you. It may be the perfect time for you to change and improve your job search efforts and find a career that you may not have considered before.
Here are some tips on how you can have a successful job search during the pandemic:
Recover from your previous job woes
Before beginning your job search, make sure that you are ready to move on to a new job. Some people often struggle during their search because they are still reeling from their old job.
Undeniably, their experience affected their self-esteem and made them start doubting their skills. However, if you want to be successful in your job search, you need to muster up all the confidence that you got and be ready to venture on a new job.

Revise your resume
You should also make it a point to revise your resume and update it, especially if you have not done job searching for years. Make sure that you list down your strengths and skills, as well as your notable credentials so that employers can easily see and consider you for the jobs they are offering.
Know what is available
Even though there are industries that have been shut down because of the pandemic, there are many industries on the rise because of the increase in the demand for their products and services. In response to it, these industries are looking for people who can help them deliver the work. Do your research and look for these companies that need additional manpower. See if you can handle the job they are offering and apply for it.
Learn new skills
While you are waiting for job interviews and searching for job openings, take some time to improve your chances by learning new skills. You can take up online courses and get certifications for a fee. You can also learn from online videos and free resources that can help you with your job search.

Keep the faith
Despite the current pandemic, you should not lose hope immediately when it comes to your job search. Sure, there will be an increased competition because people are going to fight for the few job openings you may find.
But, if you prepare in advance and make your profile appealing with your new and improved skills, you can surely increase your chances. It also won’t hurt to keep looking for the right job position even if you have already landed on the first job you found. This can help you to have options when you find yourself not fit for the first one.
Conclusion
Although COVID-19 has immensely changed the industries, there are still job openings waiting for the right people to be filled. If you are willing to take the plunge and try to apply for these jobs, you can put yourself in a better position in life, and get employed despite the current pandemic.

Hi, Kally! I am sorry for the delay in revisiting. A very good article, with useful advice. We should never doubt in our skills, and just this pandemic is offering so many possibilities for learning new skills. I hope you are well, and stay save. Maybe you have heard, in Europe it seems every state wants to have a own branded virus. 😉 The Britains now have a variant with more dominant behaviour. Sorry, sarcasm is taking more and more place. However, we will successful fight the bad. Michael

Yes, I have read about the new variant in UK. It’s crazy now in Europe, my friends in Netherlands and Germany cities are in strict lockdown. I hope you are coping the best you can. Please take care, Michael.

Thank you, Kally! Dont worry about here, We are near the border to the Czech Republic. Although the Czech Republic has been a member of the EU for 16 years, it feels like during the Cold War. Because some revanchists want to get back former German territories (now) in the Czech Republic. Best wishes, Michael

That’s a good point that resolving any lingering emotions around the previous job is another part of preparing for a new job. It’s easy to get into panic mode and think we don’t have time to process our feelings, but if we don’t they can influence our decisions and sap our energy without our awareness.
