Brand New Updates

Hey ya!

It’s been a long time that I have not personally update myself so I decided to address this white elephant today.

Thank you so much for reading and participating in MiddleMe. For all your continuous support and positive encouragement, I continue to write on even when I don’t have time.

Freelancing

As MiddleMe grow, so did my clientele. Although I started off with freelancing platforms, I am slowly building enough reputation to have clients come to me directly. This shows that personal branding is crucial if you want to be successful in your freelancing career. Besides being a writer, I have been busy doing recruitment for clients as well.

Recruiting

I am recruiting freelance translators for a web novel company. My client is looking for Chinese to English translation at the moment. So if you are interested, drop me a line at Kally@MiddleMe.net for further details.

Even if this job doesn’t suit you, if you are a freelancer, I love to hook you up in future for any potential job. Just let me know your Upwork or LinkedIn profile so that I can keep you in mind when I do recruit for my clients.

A Brand New Goal

Okay, not so brand new if you have read my intention to try out as an author. Good news is that I have started writing the first few pages and I have a topic checklist that keeps growing as I write because I’m so inspired and motivated. While I can’t promise that the book will complete this year, but I will see this through the end. If you are or know someone who is an editor, I’ll love to have the contact for future need. Definitely, need a good editor to cut down my gibberish.

Volunteering

This is a big part of my life this year. I started out as a playgroup rep for a non-profit organization that help to nurture parents with young children. I’m going to move on writing on their blog for them soon. I’ll be sure to share the links once I’m on board.

Take a breather

Seems right now my life is pretty packed to the brim, so to make sure that I stay sane and clearheaded, I’m taking a break at the end of this month for a week. In fact, as you’re reading this, I’m on a flight to Beijing, China. It’s been on my bucket list to visit Forbidden City and I’m really excited (a little girl in a big city kind of bubbly excitement) to finally step into the history after binge-watching all the Chinese historical dramas (part of the reasons that I’m losing time to write).

Don’t worry, I have prepared enough articles in advance to cover my absence so you’ll get your fix. 🙂

On a hunt

I’m hunting for guest post collaboration. I’ll love to feature you and your article if it is career or freelancing related and promote your website, blog, book…

If you are a fashion blogger, I love to work with you, maybe on a piece on fashionable working clothes.

If you are a book/ movie reviewer, maybe I can feature your work on the best books/ movie to inspire those at work.

If you are a poet, why don’t you write me a poem about career motivation and I’ll feature you.

Even if you are none of those above, why not drop me an email and see if we can work something out. Even an article about your past experiences on a previous job will excite me!

Now that I have opened my doors to welcome you in, looking forward to hearing from you, in the comments or via email. Whatever rock your boat!

Wow, these are certainly way too many hats but for someone like you, I know you will certainly look and do good while wearing them all 🙂
I wish you good luck from the bottom of my heart. Enjoy your break in The Forbidden City.

Hey, Hammad! Guess who’s back?! The break is really good. For once, I wasn’t a mother, a writer or a freelancer. But I did have nose bleed due to the pollution in Beijing.

Having that feeling is really special, isn’t it. Pollution is that much worse in Beijing? And it’s not even winter yet when news about smog engulfing entire capital makes a headline.

When I was living in Shanghai, we only had 5 days out of 365 days of clear blue skies. Smog was (and still is) everywhere. Even if you shut all your windows, you can still smell it. The rusty burning smell. Yucks!

Now imagine Beijing’s pollution is twice as worse as Shanghai.

It does sound like you have a lot on your hands, Kally. But juggling all of that so well! Congrats on making freelance into something for you. It takes time to build up a client base and also to have people coming to you. Freelancing has been up and down for me, but it has been good of late and have had returning clients so can’t complain 🙂 Good luck with writing your book and becoming an author! At the rate you are going I am very sure you will finish your book before mine lol 🙂 Happy and safe travels. Take care and enjoy yourself 🙂

Thank you, Mabel! I really think this is a well earned break for me. Yes, I do have a lot on my hands…it’s crazy! But I love my crazy life.

I’m so happy that your hard work in freelancing paid off. With your returning customers, it goes to show that your work speak volumes. Yay!! And congratulations.

Can’t leave my baby for too long.. I kept buying things for her on sight until I came home with 2 full luggages and 2 boxes with new clothes, toys and books. Called it a mama’s guilt.

No such luck on my side. The smog was pretty bad until I had nose bleed. But overall, it was a good break. Love the Forbidden City and the people and the food but the smog is just killing me slowly.

Oh, that was unfortunate. I hate the smog and I’m so glad I don’t have to experience it so much like when I lived there before. I like the Forbidden City too.
