With the popularity of social media, careers are growing that involves its use. One of the most popular careers involving social media is being an Instagram Influencer.
Every Instagram user has the opportunity to be “Instafamous”, especially if their posts make the right impression to the companies or products they support.
However, it is not easy to be “Instafamous” unlike what people believe. It’s not just about posting pretty and viral pictures and videos. A lot of thought goes into it to make it click.
Want to become an Instagram influencer next year? Here are some tips we can share to help you out:
1. Know your Brand
Before you become an influencer, you must know what brand or niche you want to follow.
Are you someone who likes to support indie brands? Do you like to travel? Do you have an advocacy?
Ask yourself what you want to support and make sure you stay true to it if you want to become an influencer.

2. Always be true
Influencers must be real to their followers and to the brands who want to try their services. Make sure that you are true each time you post since this will give you credibility.
There are too many fake influencers out there who say they are passionate about something yet turn their backs when pressure is too much or money is too big. So if you are an advocate for adopting animals from shelters, don’t go out to the pet shop to buy a dog.
3. Don’t be afraid to tell your story
Posts must not just appeal in terms of their visual story. It must also be something true to your story and goals.
If you are experiencing trials, be open about it to the extent you can keep some details a secret but still tell your followers what is going on.
You will be surprised to know that posts with engaging stories do make good engagement pieces.
4. Know who to approach
Once people know your brand and support you, you need to find the right people or companies to help you out.
These people can help you bring your influence further and they must share the values or goals you want to push for your brand.
You can send them a DM or ask fellow influencers who can help you get a voice to these companies.

5. Be consistent with your posts
As an influencer, you need to get your followers engaged at all times. If you gap your Instagram posts or delay them, your audiences might slowly dwindle in numbers.
You should learn how to schedule your posts so audiences won’t have to keep waiting for new content. You can take advantage of apps that can schedule your posts for you and post it on Instagram automatically. You should also make sure that you engage with those who are engaging with your content – even if you have decided to buy comments for Instagram, replying to those who have commented shows willingness to engage on your part and looks really good.
6. Edit your feed
When you are an influencer, your feed is everything and you need to make sure your photos or videos are stunning. Use editing apps to edit your photos and videos before posting them.
Brands often like it when the photos and videos of their influences are clean and match their style.
7. Pick the right hashtags
Hashtags are used by Instagram users to find relevant posts for a specific subject or focus.
Every user is allowed to use up to #30 hashtags and this will help your post reach more people. However, as an influencer, you need to know which hashtags will reach more people.
8. Speak to your followers
Influencers should be able to reach out to people and talk to their followers.
This shows that you know your niche very well, you are ready to answer questions and you appreciate their feedback.
Their feedback will also help you learn if you need to change your strategy and learn more about the industry.

9. Collaborate
Don’t be afraid to collaborate with other influencers to create content. You can learn a lot from these influencers, especially with how they reach out to their followers.
Collaborations are also perfect to get free publicity, especially if you are collaborating with someone with more followers.
10. Look into trends
You should also look into the trends popular in your chosen niche and work with it.
You can combine your niche and the trends in your posts and work something out. It can be a bit of a trial and error to do this, but once you find the right style, you will be able to get your posts to get more engagements.
In Other Words…
Being an Instagram influencer is tough, especially now that many people are trying to become one themselves. These tips we shared above can get you into the right direction as you try to find your brand. I wish you good luck and happy posting!!!

I’ve been staying away from social media for mental health reasons as of 2017, but I may use IG and other platforms in the future once I’m in a better place. I think that the points you made are very helpful, not only for people who are trying to make it big on social media platforms, but for people who are networking in general (to include bloggers). It’s very useful having genuine human connections with loyal followers.
