As a manager, you are expected to work well with others and inspire them to do their best. You take time to answer their inquiries and help them as best as you could.

3. You do not react immediately and think about the situation before acting

A good manager looks into a situation in all angles. They will listen to all sides with a calm disposition and investigate before they act. They do not let their anger get in the way of their decisions and will act with respect at all times.

4. You are capable of distributing tasks to other team members

New managers tend to have problems delegating tasks to their team members. However, as a manager, it is necessary that you know how to delegate since it shows that you can monitor your team and put them on the right track even without your interference.

5. You want people to succeed too

Like a famous movie once said, one for all and all for one. If one team member fails, the entire team takes the hit. If one is acknowledged, it is a success of all members. Managers must know this simple fact and would do what they can to help their teammates grow.

6. You want the challenge and role

If you want to do something, you will show it. In this instance, if you want to take a leadership role, you need to ask yourself why you are gunning for it. Are you after the money? Or are you after the challenge and can handle the pressure?

7. You can work while under pressure

Managers do not just work at the office. They are usually sent out by their office to meet with the company’s partners and clients. They are also on the go to areas their companies want them to go. If you find this not to your palate, management is not your thing.

In Summary

If you find yourself being offered a management position, ask yourself if you are ready for it or if it is right for you. There are other possible positions out there that can give you the challenge but not have so many responsibilities like a manager does.

So, research and think carefully before you make a decision. If you make a mistake in deciding, your career may be at stake.
