Yes, it’s that time of the year where everyone let down their hair, boogie to the party music and flirts a little with that cute secretary that you have been eyeing for the whole year. We are talking about the end of the year office party! For some fun, we are going to list 10 types of characters you will definitely see at your office party.
The Invisible CEO
You bump into some elderly man and he gives you a wink while others looked at you in horror and shock. Guess what? You have just backed into the CEO of your company but since he is super elusive, you probably did not recognise him especially after your third cocktail. Maybe it’s time to dig up the history of your company history and learn who is sitting on the bench.
The Flirt
You probably will know who is the office flirt especially if you are a hot blooded male, single or married. She will outdo every single ladies in the party by decking the sexiest little black dress the HR can allow. She’ll disappear during lunch time to do her hair and her nails, buy that slinky five-inch heels that are on sale down the street. All in hopes that she will be able to catch someone’s eye during the party.
The Empress
Or sometimes nicknamed the Dowager. She is either the PA for the CEO or the HR director. Moses part the red sea with his staff, she parts the office party with a flick of her hair or a whiff of her overpowering Chanel No. 5. She has her minions with her, following her around, pandering to her every need. You want to stay away from her, preferably across the hall because her glare can really kill off any buzz you have been feeling from that cocktail of yours.
The Show off
If it is a theme party, he will show up as the latest Marvel Movie hero that is screening at the cinemas. If it is a karaoke theme, be sure he will hog the limelight by crooning the latest Justin Bieber’s song to show that he is in with the times. Even there is no theme, he will be sure to show off his dance moves, likely to be a combination of hip hop and breakdance. Chat up with him and you’ll likely be bored with his number of tales based on his failed attempts at the America Got Talent, The Voice and American’s Idol.
The Wall Flower
Nowadays, they are in a group and not alone. They might be your accountants, your IT geeks or number-crunching analysts. However, with a little booze and plenty of encouragement, they actually can be a whole lot of fun to hang out with. At least, they are decent, able to hold a proper conversation (be it not the social kind of airy content) and they will send you home safe and sound if you asked them nicely.
Look out for part 2 next week! I always advocate to have fun and enjoy bonding with your colleagues at the office party. Let your hair down but not your guard down. Remember, these are the folks that you’ll have to work with, months if not years to come.

Hahaha.. I could be the wallflower type if I’m new in the company or if I don’t know anyone in the party.
