Guest Post: Challenging abs by CHAPE

Stuck all day in front of the computer doesn’t give you an excuse not to take care of yourself. One of the ways to take care of yourself is to make yourself look good. Today, we have our guest writer, David to come and show us that we can do quick effective exercises in your cubicle to ease back pains as well as to look good in that tight black suit.

If you spend many hours in front of the computer, your abs need a daily update. Your workplace is not the best place to work out the abs, I can give you that.

Also, I can give you some effective exercises. No equipment is required, and trust me, you want to stand up after the first two exercises 😉

Training your abs can help you with everything from posture to alleviating low-back pain.

Seated knee raises

Sit on the edge of your chair, bent knees and flat feet.

Grasp the seat for stability.

Exhale and use you lower abs to raise your knees toward your chest, keeping your knees bent at the same angle. The motion hinges in the hips.

Inhale as lower your feet almost to the floor. This movement should be slow and controlled.

Repeat 10 times.

Seated Leg Raises

Sit on the edge of your chair, legs extended to the floor. Lean back slightly.

Grasp the seat for stability.

Exhale as you raise your legs, flexing hips and knees while pulling torso slightly forward to maintain balance.

Inhale and return to starting position, extending hips and knees and lean torso back to counter balance.

Repeat 10 times.

Standing obliques

Stand with feet positioned over the center of your band, shoulder-width apart.

Grip each end with arms down at your side and palms facing your body. If you don´t have a band, grab one book with each hand 🙂

Keeping your back straight.

Exhale and bend to one side as far as you can.

Inhale and return to the center position.

Exhale and bend to the other side.

10 times each side.
