Working as a freelancer probably means you don’t know how much you will earn from one week to the next. That is just the reality everyone faces when they choose to avoid traditional employment. Thankfully, there are lots of techniques you could use to boost your income. You just have to take some advice from the experts and try something new. I’ve published three ideas on this page that should help to point you in the right direction. Just make sure you never rush into anything without first doing your homework. Otherwise, you might waste time on a concept that will never create profit.

Invest in stock and shares
If you make conservative investments using a broker, you could increase your income with dividend payments. You could also achieve the same thing by providing funding for new businesses. These ideas might help you to source the extra cash you require. It’s just essential that you don’t try to run before you can walk. A stock market is a complicated place, and you need to educate yourself. Thankfully, many ex-traders have published books during the last few years. So, you just need to buy the most appropriate titles and spend some time reading. There are also hundreds of blogs that offer tips and tricks.

Expand your list of services
Most freelancers use websites like People Per Hour to find work these days. The process is simple, and it’s possible to earn a lot of money. However, the level of income you create will depend on the services you offer. If you have a background in graphic design, you should never struggle. Even so, you might like to make yourself available for writing work too. There are lots of marketing companies that use freelancers for their campaigns. You don’t need any qualifications, and anyone could try their luck. Of course, it’s going to help if you have a reasonable understanding of English grammar. Just don’t stress too much because there are tools and software packages you can use the improve the quality of your work.

Launch a professional website
Sometimes you need to move away from those freelancing domains to earn a lot of cash. Launching a professional website to advertise yourself is a wise first step. Many people in your position have managed to score significant contracts when taking that approach. You can pay to promote your domain using Google Adwords and Facebook Ads. You just need to make sure you target the most suitable companies and specialists. With a bit of luck, they will get in touch with you to discuss any work they might have at the current time. That means you don’t have to sit around all day bidding on jobs and hoping for the best.
There aren’t any right or wrong ways to achieve your goals in 2016. As most people should understand, innovation is the best asset at your disposal. So, try to think of original concepts and solutions if you want to boost your income. Sometimes we find that the simplest ideas are often the most lucrative. Bear that in mind as you progress through the next twelve months.

Kally, I am really enjoying your posts. I am so ready to jump into freelance writing (once I do I have all sorts of administrative trouble waiting for me but that is just a bad excuse for not going for it). I don’t know if I mentioned this to you before but the initial reason behind my blogging was to gain experience/confidence before pitching for some work…

“It’s just essential that you don’t try to run before you can walk.”
I smiled reading this line, remembered me of the evening before the day I had to go to school for the first time. I was crying and my mother wondered why. “Well, I can’t read and write!”. Fortunately my mother could comfort me, explaining that’s why I had to go to school the next day, to learn all that. 🙂
I love how you try to help your readers/followers, Kally.

Wish I had the confidence to try freelance writing. I’m worried I’d starve. 😦
