I’ve always valued the wisdom of talking to bears (or a teddy) because children do it. But I can see now why they might not be responding.
On another note, if people don’t react the way we expect, it may be because they have something else on their mind!

Some people just want you to hear and understand them, but they do not care about hearing you and what you have to say. What you are saying, and how you feel about something doesn’t matter to them, they don’t care. People like that are self absorbed and stuck on themselves. They want you to hear them, but they never want to hear the other person, and that is where conflict arise. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
