Printed signage is not a thing of the past just because the world we live in is so digitized. Many people still get their information from print magazines and newspapers, and most people have to commute to jobs and during their commute will pass by lots of places that are great opportunities for you to promote your business. High traffic areas in real life can be just as successful in helping out a business as high traffic areas online.
When going over your advertising budget, make sure you leave some space for printed signage. Here are four reasons it will help your business.
It Reaches The Right Audience
Printed signs often reach the correct target audience even more effectively than targeted ads online. This is because they are placed strategically in certain areas of the world. For example, a sign for an expensive jewelry shop will most likely not be found in a very low-income neighborhood. Use your surroundings to your advantage when deciding where to place print signs, and you will be pleasantly surprised at the outcome.
It’s Cost-Effective
For the amount of traffic you have the potential to bring into your business, and the number of new customers you stand to gain from a quality ad, print ads are highly cost effective. Factor them in to your monthly budget and you won’t even notice the expense. You will, however, notice how quickly and easily your business is growing.
Clear Communication
Internet ads, social media posts, and long newsletters can become overwhelming to the consumer’s eye, often conveying too much information at once. A potential customer won’t remember all of the information about your business if too much of it is thrown at them at once. Printed ads can help remedy this before they are kept short and simple, clear and concise. A simple photo or graphic can truly say a thousand words in the world of advertising, and that clear communication will stick in the minds of your potential customers.
Competitive Advantages
Effective printed signage can provide a great competitive advantage over businesses similar to yours. Someone may be looking to buy a specific product or service, but aren’t sure what business they want to go with. At the exact moment they are thinking about where they want to take their business, they may walk by a bench or drive by a billboard with your sign on it, and boom – they call you up and become your new customer. This gives you an advantage over any of your competitors who didn’t have a sign up in that specific spot.
As you learned from the reasons above, printed signs are still very important and helpful ways to grow your business, so use them accordingly.

Actually did something like that to try and get traffic to a website. I had a person do some print signage for me and post them in a high traffic area. Not sure that I had the results I was looking for but it was a fun experiment and I’ll definitely try it again.

A couple of bloggers I follow would do well to read this. They clutter their pages with so much color, sizes and types of fonts, not to mention moving gifs, that many times I just skip reading them, even though the content is excellent. If you lose your reader on first sight of you page, you may as well not post.
As always, solid guidance from one of the best! 😉

I agree with you. We use signage in our office and find it to be a very low tech but effective way to get the message out.
