When I was first followed by Ngobesing, I was wondering how did I actually gone so far and reached out to a Senior journalist from Cameroon. Cameroon!! That is like the far end of the earth but I am very glad and fortunate he did. His first article that I read was the one I would like to share with you. I found it touching, the post is written beautifully and simply inspiring. I hope that you found it meaningful too.

After my post on small can be big, Tienny asked the question as to how one can maximize one’s earnings when one’s income is very small?

If your income is small you have to limit your wants. Do not try to live like a business magnate or a big public service worker when you are a housekeeper or an office cleaner. If you earn two hundred dollars you cannot live on three hundred dollars.

However, you still have to dream big even as you live a simple life. I have seen people with small salaries who have skyrocketed to the top.

They spent their money carefully. Meko earned very little; and so did not send his children to expensive schools. He made sure he followed up their school work to make up for any gaps that the lower level school they attended might have created. He did not buy them expensive clothes, toys and other things of luxury but took time to explain to them that though they were poorer than the others they were as intelligent as them and if they worked hard in school they would end up shining more than those rich ones. The children listened and worked hard. Things turned out for them as their father had told them.

The parents worked hard for the family too; and as the children were growing bigger they contributed to do work at home. Thus, they cultivated the habit of hard work. Mrs Meko was a very hard working woman. She had four farms and most of the family food came from there.

Meko saved a lot. Though he earned very little, he knew how important it was to save a good part of what he earned. He had a big dream to do business some day. He calculated and knew that if he saved a certain amount of money every month he would have enough money in ten years to start his own business. That was exactly what happened.

To save, he refrained from the things that many young people squandered their money on – drinking carelessly, running after women, buying expensive clothes etc. People knew he did not earn much so they never invited him to make donations here and there as the rich people did.

In ten years, Meko had accumulated enough capital to start a sales business. He went in for raw food business. It grew fast. Five years after he started, his life changed. One of his children who had worked very hard won a scholarship to study in the US. Two years later, another child followed. Within seven years all their children were abroad. The status of the family changed. Some of those who were big people at the start were coming to them for help. Meko became able to contribute generously to his church, and for development projects.

This is just one of millions of stories of people around the world who start off very humbly and end up in the sky. Earning a small salary can be a great blessing if you know how to manage your resources.

I hope this post helps someone somewhere who has only a small salary to make it big someday. All is to plan and manage your resources well. If you do this, small will become big.

Of course, anybody who earns a good salary and manages it well will be very well placed too. If on the other hand you earn big and manage poorly you can end up worse than someone who might have been your clerk in the office.

The whole thing thus lies on financial management. However small your earning is, maximize it.

  1. Very true, financial knowledge is very important too. However, most people as Robert Kiyosaki said, gets dumber as their earnings gets higher. I hope we all are able to apply the advice on this wonderful post. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

  2. Hi Kally, it’s me again! LOL I’ve just run across a new blogger who’s writing in the same general area of interest; he seems to have a good head on his shoulders, good solid advice, especially for students about to graduate and head out into the wide (and sometimes frightening) entrepreneurial world. I’ve decided to follow, and wondered if you would kindly give his blog a “once over,” so to speak?

Just when you have the time (as if you have a lot of free time! LOL)

  5. The heart of your writing while appearing agreeable originally, did not really settle very well with me personally after some time. Somewhere throughout the paragraphs you managed to make me a believer but only for a while. I still have got a problem with your leaps in logic and you would do well to help fill in all those breaks. If you can accomplish that, I could undoubtedly end up being fascinated.

  6. Yes, I have a post on the matter of money. It was posted a long time ago. So I’ll copy & paste. OK?

Back in 2007 You gave me sound instructions about finances. I will quote the record of that day to refresh my memory and let You apply those instructions to me again! Quote,

    November 20, 2007 (4:39am).
Blessed be Your name, Father Yahuwah! Blessed be Yahushua, my Savior and my Master! I come to You with thanksgiving in my heart, to worship You! HalleluYah!

Father Yah, may Your will be done in my life and the life of Your people. May Your kingdom come. Give us this day our supplies both spiritual and physical.

And Father, deliver us from the evil of our wicked beings. Give us the discernment necessary to survive in these days and endure until the end.

There is so much confusion going on that unless You intervene, we don’t know which way to turn. Show us Your salvation even Yahushua our Savior. Teach us Father how to lift up our eyes to You and follow Your instructions. Deliver us from false doctrines.

Teach us what it means to die to ourselves and live unto You. Give us Your strength to live Yahushua’s life.
Are we willing to sacrifice our comforts to follow Yahushua? Or, do we insist to live our life in comfort just like everybody else?

Am I willing? Yes, I am my Father, deliver me from the fear of mankind. Deliver me from the reasoning of man and lift me up to Your reasoning.

This is a temporary life, let me live in my eternal life. Let me act and do accordingly to Your commandments of love.

You said to be anxious for nothing, I refuse anxiety regardless of the attacks from it. I will not harbor anxiety. I lift up my eyes to You to receive Your peace.

I trust myself to You for You care for me. I will not harbor doubt and unbelief in You. And I thank You for the measure of faith You have given unto me.

You know how the lack of money affects me and each one of Your children. You know how money causes us to falter in so many ways, how it affects our reasoning.

You say, we cannot serve money and You, and yet, we are slaves to money at every turn of the way. Everywhere we turn we need money.

We cannot free ourselves, set us free my Father, I plead. Deliver us from the slavery to money and teach us to live without money.

“My child, your attitude towards money is what makes you slave to it. You don’t need any money that I don’t supply for you. You don’t need to go after money to supply for your own self. All I want from you is your willingness to wait on Me for your supplies. Wait on Me even for the words you are to speak about money and such. Do not be afraid of the lack or the abundance of money. Your attitude towards money is to be a complete trust on Me for your supply of it. Sit still and wait on Me for your deliverance. Do not change the course I have marked for you on account of money. Again, sit still and wait on Me.”

Thank You Father, as You speak to me You also empower me to obey Your instructions. HalleluYah!
