Whether you are a job seeker or someone who wishes to build a professional network, LinkedIn is the social media platform to sign up for. Nowadays, it is rare to find anyone currently employed without a LinkedIn account.
But, like other social media sites, you may see people in your friends’ list who spam your feed and disables you from seeing the right posts from your other peers. Some may even post solicitations or posts harassing you or others.
Whatever your situation is, you can block the users posting this content without them knowing. LinkedIn does not notify the person being blocked when you block them.

Want to know how to do it? Here’s how!
- Go to the profile of the person you want to block
- Click “More” and select “Report/Block.”
- Click “Block (the name of the person to be blocked.”
- Select “Block” if you are sure that you want to block this person.
- Done!
It is important to note that if you block another LinkedIn user, you will not be able to see each other’s profiles and send messages. You will also not be able to see their “Who’s Viewed Your Profile” and “People You May Know” lists. If this person recommends you or gives your endorsement, it will be removed from your profile. They can still browse any public information they have on the site, such as posted general content, comments and shared posts.
Do you want to block the person without going to their profile? Sadly, LinkedIn does not allow that yet. However, you can do this if you’re going to “block” them without visiting their account at all and should you need to check their profile, you will be shown as “Anonymous” by the person you want to “block.”
- Select the “Me” option in the menu and click “Settings & Privacy.”
- Select the “Visibility” section and look for “Profile viewing options”. Click “Change”
- You can now edit how your profile will appear when you go to other sites. In this case, select “Anonymous.”
- Done!

You can also do the following to limit a person’s access to your profile by doing the following:
- Hide your public profile by changing your visibility settings as noted above
- Hide your profile photo
- Switching your display name and username to something different
- Turn on or on your “Open to Work” setting
- Remove first-degree connections
No matter your social media account, LinkedIn included, you will need to know how to block users to prevent unknown people from stalking you or bombarding you with content you don’t need to see. While there are still flaws to blocking people on the site, the guide above is an excellent way to start. In the future, LinkedIn may figure out how to make the blocking process easier. So, if you want to block someone, no worries! LinkedIn got you covered, and they will not even inform the person you blocked.
Thanks for the information, Kally. It’s sad that these days one has to go through all those steps (especially for someone technologically challenged like me) just to stop being harassed.
