I’m Back!!!

Safely arrive at Malaysia in one piece! Thank you for your patience with me with all the emails and the award posts, I’ll follow up with them one by one as soon as possible. Thank you each and every one of you for not abandoning MiddleMe while I was away.

How’s my trip? I’ll let the photos do the talking while I start flexing my fingers for my next post. Enjoy!
(PS. you won’t find me in my photos because most of the photos involving me are not taken by my iPhone.)

IMG_1645The Terracotta Warriors. If you looked closely enough, you’ll find that on the other side of the gallery are full of tourists.

IMG_1728We took a cable car up the Hua Mountain (华山), just look at the breathtaking view! OMG!

IMG_1754The climb up the Eastern Peak of Hua Mountain. The steps on the way up the peak is pretty worn out due to the huge volume of visitors aka hikers each year, iron chains are planted along the way to prevent accident and for people grasp onto for balance. As the iron chains are pretty worn out and rusty, it is advisable to wear gloves in order not to injured our hands.

Very interesting calligraphy on the public street. The old man is using brush and water to write on the pavement to practice his calligraphy skills.

On the art gallery streets of Shanghai…

The following photos are my favourite food in China. If anyone who wish to lure me back there, all they have to do is to invite me for dinner… You may noticed that below introductions are all meals meant to eat with a big group of people, in my opinion, a meal is the best when shared with the right company. A meal is most enjoyable when there are good food, great company and laughter!

IMG_1870

This is called Yinyang Hotpot, made famous by Sichuan. One side is spicy numbing hot soup base (after 10mins, you can’t feel the taste buds on your tongue anymore) and on the other side is sweet tomato soup base. This is invented to allow those who can’t take anything spicy to enjoy the meal with those who can.

IMG_9187

The Korean barbecue – I haven’t been to Korea yet so I am unable to compare if the one in China is any similar but I can tell you it is so so delicious especially during the cold winter. I can keep eating this every meal!!

IMG_9050

This next dish is called the Three-Sauce Simmer Pot. Instead of soup base, it is stew based. All marinated meat and seafood together with fresh vegetables are stewed slowly under high fire in front of you. If you are sitting next to me, you can hear my tummy rumbling as I attempt to make small talk to distract myself from waiting.

IMG_7570

This is last of the food I would like to introduce to you, it is called Porridge Hot Pot. So instead of soup base, it is replaced by white plain watery congee and you can start to place sticks of raw meat, seafood and vegetables into the high temperature pot to cook in the porridge. The result is lip smacking delicious.

Okay, I am making myself hungry.. Going to grab lunch!!

It does look like you had so much fun, and I am so happy for you! I hope you didn’t forget to take a photo of yourself with the beautiful scenery you’ve been to! I remember a friend telling me that one day, when you’re older and have a family of your own, your kids will be excited to see all the photos of the places you’ve been to, and they will wonder, “where were you in these pictures?” hehe!

Haha! I am not much of a selfie taker. Memories are meant to keep inside my head and in my heart. I am more of a foodie hunter than a sightseeing tourist. So tour groups are not good for me because I’ll bugged the guide, asking him or her what are we eating next!

Haha! I think we’ll be great tour buddies, then! Although I am a mixture of both kinds. I love testing out food and sightseeing at the same time. I love spontaneous trips, too! Looking forward to your next travel! 🙂
