You’re right. Unwanted feelings can come at any time, and they are strong communicators. They can tell us something is wrong or that all is well. They can confirm the truth and motivate us to do what’s right, or they can lie and lead us astray. We may not be able to keep unwanted emotions away, but we can keep them from ruling over us. Every person is made up of mind (the “thinker”), emotions (the “feeler”), and will (the “chooser”). Mind and emotions can disagree, but the will has the final word. When the mind knows what’s right and the will overrides lying emotions, the grip of those emotions eventually is loosened. That’s been my experience, anyway. Of course, the next question is, how do we know what’s right? (See Owner’s manual. 😉 )

And closing your eyes does not change the reality of what you no longer see. Some things, like feelings, though unpleasant MUST be faced.
