It’s so important to remind yourself this often…🤍

Actually, it is a misunderstanding of pop psychology from the 1960s that tells us we need to love ourselves. The Bible teaches clearly, “For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it…” (Ephesians 5:29).
Even the suicidal actually love themselves too much, though claiming to hate themselves. Who will we believe, someone with mental problems or the Bible?
If we understand what the suicidal really hate, it is that they feel they should not have to suffer the way they suffer, i.e., their self-love demands an exit.

But self-love is endemic to human nature.
What we need is not reminders to love ourselves, but more so “to love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18).
