I happen to disagree with Aristotle because even if you do nothing, say nothing, and become nothing, you’ll still get criticism about you inactivity and about your mediocrity. Which tells me that criticism cannot be avoided, and since people are going to talk anyway… just do your thing. Be who you want to be, do what you love, and disregard what other people say.
I disagree too, to me it sounds more like Aritotle being ironic and telling us to go ahead and do our thing because there’s no way we’d be able to avoid criticism anyway!
Yeah, I think he might just be using sarcasm to illustrate his point. I alway like to say the mouth belongs to others, it’s up to them what they like to say but the ears belong to you, you can choose to shut out what you don’t want to hear.
Criticism, as far as it is constructive, I’m all ear to it. But, sometimes, you know… 😀
I think the philosopher here, in his usual ironic way, wanted to convey that there is practically no way to avoid criticism. So, it’s better to continue with your thoughts and work…. 🙂
Completely true. No matter what you do, there’s always someone (more than one someone) who’s not going to like it. But there also might be someone who DOES like it! So there we go 🙂
These are wise words and state a simple truth that we can’t avoid criticism (positive or negative), that we are wise to learn to deal with it and not let it stop us from living our lives fully.
welcome so sweet kally!!mere to avoid from crictism we should not say ,hear or do bt dt is not human life.by nothing they r animals.we have heart n mind full of thoughts , imazinations n feelings’s ocean.without care evrybody,we should do dt all as our heart wills ,mind says then we will be able to enjoy d life.m l wrong ? say everything,do every thing n prepare to hear criticism .plz reply m i rihgt?i say so dt all coz of democratic thoughts.ur pic with dis blog very cute n spritualy silent.
This is a very wise quote. I guess given the source (Aristotle), that’s not so surprising. 🙂
