About MiddleMe

You.

MiddleMe is about you and the 9 hours you spend on your job each day.

More often than not, I hear folks lamenting about their tasks and problems at work. At first, I would drop a few tips on how to improve their current situations but nothing much, just my two cents in such circumstances. Then, I started having more and more friends that even my colleagues approached me for career advice. Even when I left a company, I’d still get calls or text messages from my ex-colleagues seeking a different outlook from theirs. Right up to today, I have colleagues from my 4 previous companies that still consult with me about their careers and issues. After a while, this got me thinking… “Hmm, I must have been doing something right”.

I tried searching for a website or a blog that dishes out sound career advice to people. However, all I have come across are either very factual statistical articles or blogs written by Westerners for Westerner readers in a Western context. I am quite surprised that I could not find something that speaks in layman language, fit for you and me, and in an Asian society context since we all know that we are culturally different from the rest of the world. Also, have you read or heard about the advice “Sky is the limit” or “Be passionate”? This kind of advice is usually easier said than done. Everyone tells us to take the next step, but a lot of us do not even know where and how to proceed.

So, I’d like to help YOU with MiddleMe.

MiddleMe is where you can find the collaboration of all those pieces of advice that I have given to everyone, in the hope that it may help you too. Even if you do not have a problem, this website will surely inspire and enrich you in so many ways.

MiddleMe is also about helping you to make smart career moves and decisions. I will offer some tips, recommendations, and even personal stories to help you in your decision-making.

Lastly, MiddleMe is a platform for sharing. I will be sharing both mine and other people’s experiences, and the actions that we have taken to get ourselves unstuck in various situations, hoping that these stories can help you too.

Let’s make the 40 hours you spend each week on your desk worthwhile.

  7. Excellent mantra Kally, like the sentiments. We all spend so much time at work that we should be able to enjoy it. As someone much older than yourself I find the barriers being pout up in trying to change careers ridiculous and yet the press and ministers keep saying that we will all have to have multiple careers. Ugh…HVD❤️

Keep pushing on and motivate yourself. There are always barriers and obstacles, we all need to take it in our strides and see what we can do to get the most and the best out of difficult situations. I find it really a waste of time and life if one spends so much time on their job that they hate.

Hey, thanks for sharing. I love the fact there are people like you who want to help the others to get out from their comfort zone and see that besides work, there is LIFE also. I used to be in that zone too, but one day I’ve just told myself to STOP and LIVE. I’ve changed the work first, then I moved, started to travel more and I feel happy now. Maybe it will sound like an advert but there’s a really nice and helpful product that my friends launched – it’s called Boost Camp Bali and it might be the first huge step to change somebody’s life, especially when is stuck in the office. It’s like reloading the pills, session with couches, pure nature, healthy and delicious diet, travelling (it’s happening in Bali as the name suggests), meditation – all those things our bodies and mind need. I’m proud I can be a part of something like that and spread the positivity in the world :-).

  30. Hi Kally,
How are you doing? I hope fine, I’ve been kind of out of the loop lately, my tired old body keeps letting me down. I recently had my novel turned into an audio-book. I will send you a promo code in case you’re interested in listening to it. Audible offers a free book for doing a book review. I know you are a busy person, you always have been and always will be. A self-starter at birth! Stay Well, best wishes. Leland

Make sure to direct fans and reviewers to http://www.audible.com/acx-promo or http://www.audible.co.uk/acx-promo to redeem ACX promo codes and remind them to mention that they received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

Hi Leland, how are you? It has been decades since I last talk to you! I’m doing well here.

Awesome to hear that your novel is now an audiobook! Congratulations and you’ve done so well for yourself. I’m so proud of you.

I will never be too busy for you. I will make time to hear your book. However, I tried to redeem the code, it doesn’t allow me to. Is it a one-time code? I will try again in a few hours time. Hopefully, I get to listen to it and leave a wonderful review for you. Yes, I’m biased. 😊

  32. When you find a job, that is not really a job because it is what you yearn to do, you have found your vocation. Once you have found that vocation never let other’s belittle or demean you or what you do.

After 33 years in the military, I finally figured out what I was suited/needed to do was help other veterans who were suffering from PTSD, Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, and homelessness. I jumped through a lot of hoops to get on with the Veterans Administration and work my way into one of those jobs.

I spent the next five years working with veterans individually and in groups and was rewarded multiple times. The reward came when I saw in another veteran’s eyes that they realized what we were talking about was true and the light at the end of the tunnel was not the train barreling down on them, but the light of hope.

Then, last year I found my body telling me something was wrong and I retired. Six months later I found out I have cancer and it was time to start a new vocation, blogging my journey through cancer so maybe someone else down the line will read it, relate to it, and find their journey has something to compare to making it easier for them.

I really enjoyed your blog post Kally.

    God Bless,

    R. I.

So I do not have to work nine hours a day anymore, I just have to do things where no time determines what I do or do not have to do.
Judging from your personal presentation, I can confirm that you are a very driven person with a lot of ambitions. So much power and inspiration to be of use to others, on top of your personal private life.
