Upon reflecting, it has been a difficult year but I am still thankful for all the blessings I received. Also, I considered myself to be one of the lucky people who survived it.
Sadly, I have friends and acquaintances who lost their loved ones in such a short time. I know folks who had Covid-19 and are still recovering from it. These group of people are the toughest and bravest bunch I have ever encountered in my life.
As I see senseless deaths over the news, I deeply felt some anguish and frustration to those people who did not take care of themselves and other people’s welfare. Some even refused to believe in science. All these deaths could have been prevented if everyone respected the need for masks and social distancing.
I am hopeful that the vaccine will be made available to everyone soon. It will surely take a long time, maybe the entire 2021 and 2022, before everyone gets vaccinated. For the first world countries, it will be important to consider if the vaccine will be subsidised by the government and how the logistics will be planned to make sure everyone in the country (even the anti-vaxxers) gets the mandatory jab. For the rest of the world, I can’t help but wonder if the vaccine will be made available and affordable for everyone, especially for the young and the old, the poor and the sick.
I cannot also remove the feeling of doubt that we will bounce back as quickly as before. Will big pharmaceutical brothers charge an arm and a leg for the vaccine? Will the vaccine’s side effects surface after some time? Even if the pandemic is truly 100% over, can we chase back the lost time in our economy (and the lost childhood of our children)?
Even how dire the situation is, I will keep reminding myself that I am one of the very fortunate ones. I have my family with me and we are in good health, plus I can still love, laugh, and cry (happy tears!).
A big fat resolution this new year: Always look on the brighter side of life, no matter where it takes you, you are right where you needed to be. Happy New Year, dear friends.

I agree with you concerning the vaccine. I hope that the vaccine will bring this to an end. Maybe we may still have to wear a mask, but there is nothing wrong with still taking the precautions that have been set in place for us. I just pray that the fatality numbers will go down since the vaccine is here. 2020 was not a good year for anyone. I pray that 2021 will be better. Happy New Year to everyone, stay safe. We are all in this together.

Certainly 2020 will be remembered for a very long time. Thankfully there appears to be a flickering ray of hope in the darkness. However there still is much to do before any sense of true normality will return. Yes there is the vaccine; but, no quick fixes are promised. Keep Safe. Keep Smiling. Happy New Year.

I know the date is just arbitrary, but I’ll admit that the 2020 door didn’t hit my backside on the way out. We watched celebrations in places where I would rather have seen them in person while I checked hotels on my phone, then slept through the local changeover so we could get up early. I’m definitely ready for something better.
