10 Jobs for Beauty Lovers

Are you the type of person who loves beauty and always trying out the latest beauty products and techniques? If that is a yes, you should consider trying out for jobs that are related to the beauty industry. There are a lot of these jobs in the industry waiting regardless of your artistic skills and talents.

If you are not sure where to start looking, we made this list of the 10 jobs you can do in the industry and what makes them appealing.

Dermatologist

For those with a medical background and training, you may want to consider studying up to be a dermatologist.

As a dermatologist, you will tackle skin, nail and hair concerns and find ways to treat them. You should also have the stomach to treat these concerns because they can get graphic at some point. Besides working at skincare clinics, you might also want to work with a private label skin care manufacturer to research, develop, and produce new skincare products. The skincare industry is currently booming and therefore manufacturing skincare products is an incredibly exciting career path to pursue, especially if you have a keen interest in science.

Graphic Designer

If you are able to showcase the beauty of your subject through photos or digital art, you may have a career in graphic designing.

You can join beauty brands and help with their ad campaigns and other promotional activities. This used to be one of my childhood ambition – to become a graphic designer in an advertising agency until I found out that the clients are demanding, the money is very little and usually you don’t have much room to manoeuvre.

Spa Owner

Want to run a business related to beauty? You can do this by opening a spa salon for people who also care about their beauty regime.

If you have beauty therapist training, that’s even better because you can run a company, help your clients and also be your own boss.

Nail Technician

Nail technician doesn’t mean you will give simple nail colours to your clients. You will also have to create nail art for them and improve their nail quality.

If you pick this job, you can either be a freelancer or a boss of your own nail salon. I actually thought of becoming one because I used to love working on my nails. Can you imagine that I used to change my nail colours every week? Now, I just have short nails in order to accommodate house chores and my daughter.

Hair Stylist

If you can style hair, you will definitely find a position as a hairstylist. You can be a pro in doing wedding hairstyles, colouring hair or extensions and catch the attention of many artists.

It is almost impossible for me to find a hair stylist I like and trust. It took me 5 years to finally found someone in Malaysia who is able to cut my hair the way I like it.

Model

Modeling is also a career you can consider if you love beauty. You can become a brand ambassador for a beauty company and be the star of their campaigns.

Makeup Artist

If you can blend colors like a pro and create various looks with just make up, being a makeup artist is your career.

You also have to be a pro in determining which colors work well in various skin types and take into consideration their skin allergies and condition.

Costume Designer

Beauty doesn’t just involve one’s skin and face, it also involves being able to look good, especially in special events.

As a costume designer, you will be tasked to work on costumes to fit certain characters and be able to convey their story to the people who see it.

Florist

Like being a makeup artist, a florist plays with colors and sees which flowers will be able to convey the right emotions to those who receive it.

If you know flower language, you can go all out in your creations and get commissioned by various people for certain events.

Interior Designer

Being an interior designer is also related to beauty. In this case, you will be the one to design rooms that will match the theme requested by clients.

I’m not sure I have a talent being an interior designer because my colours and tastes alway clashes. I love bright colours like red, orange and turquoise, and I love to pair it with dark gloomy furnitures like steampunk.

Conclusion

If you are into beauty product, love fashion and an avid fan of the changing trends, you may want to think about pursuing the above careers. Who knows, I may find your name in Vogue one day!

  8. “Beautiful” ….Oh! Was I not supposed to say that?

Terrific advise Kally (you could do the modeling gig)

About a million years ago, while stationed as a USAF photographer on Long Island New York; I envisioned myself as a Fashion Photographer…. I was actually offered an 2 year- Apprentice position (if i worked for free)…This in NY City where even back in 1965; a cup of coffee was about $3.00 a cup!!!! And then you still rent, food, clothing, transportation ect….

Yea, like I was going to accept THAT offer. …On to dream #2

Really great suggestions Kally (and you recommended jobs that always get paid for)…TERIFFIC!

    God Bless,
    Patrick!

  13. While I certainly appreciate beauty, Kally, I didn’t think anything in the beauty industry would apply to me.

However, upon reading your article, I discovered you mentioned a few fields – like graphic design and interior design – that apply somehow to running a blog. too.

While my blog is a hobby, and I do something entirely different career-wise, it’s fascinating to consider those of us in the field are involved in making things attractive. After all, we want to entice readers to our sites, don’t we?

Of course! I believe that everyone likes nice things. Some like bling bling while others like everything pink. All is in beauty that lies in the eye of the beholder!
