In my personal experience Boredom is nearly always self-imposed.
When we prohibit our God gifted imaginations; that is price He charges. There is also, if we be honest with ourselves (TO THY OWN SELF EVER BE TRUE..Shakespeare),there is an element of laziness that at times overwhelms. …Or perhaps early sings of burnout which we too must avoid.
