Best Ways to Prep for your Dream Job Interview

For any new applicant, the job interview is the most nerve-wracking part of job hunting. If you want to be hired for the job, your answers during the interview will count.

If you find your dream job in the company you are looking into and got called for an interview, here are some tips to help you prepare for it:

Do Your Research

Before your interview, do a background check about the company and its people. Use the company’s official sites and even check the LinkedIn pages of the HR officer.

Learn what stuff the company does, what events they are involved with and their company’s mission and vision. Companies prefer employees who embody their values and fit into their unique work environment.

You should also refresh your memory about your career history. If you can illustrate your career history to date accurately, you can use some examples from your work history during the interview.

Anticipate The Questions

Hiring managers often use a combination of standard, leadership, behavioural and analytical questions during an interview.

Try anticipating what questions will be asked and prepare notes to help you formulate the answer. Try practising these questions and your response in front of a mirror to help you clear your thoughts. Make sure to smile and be truthful about your responses.

In turn, you should also prepare some questions to ask the hiring manager.

Make sure to ask about the job being offered and other inquiries you may have about the company. It also won’t hurt if you say you want the job. You can say “I am very interested in the projects this job will entail. I hope I can speak more with you about this project.”

Dress Up To Impress and Pack Accordingly

When you go to a job interview, you must look your best. It is a standard for many companies to require applicants to wear business or business casual clothing for their interview. Make sure your clothes are pressed and comfortable, and make sure your face, hair and nails are perfect.

Your bag must also be prepared before you go to an interview. Print several copies of your resume, photo and a reference list just in case the interviewer will ask for it. You should also clean your bag and make it organized so you can easily get the things you need for your interview.

Focus

It is important to remember that when you are being interviewed for a job, you must be able to show that you are the right person for the job.

Make a list of your skill set while you prepare and see how it can help you with the job.

You should also brush up on phrases that will help you answer tricky questions. You can try phrases like “In my opinion, this can be done by…” or “I believe it is possible to work on…”

Get some rest the day before

It will not look good to interviewers if you come to the interview with red eyes because you didn’t sleep the night before. Sleep deprivation can cause you to lose focus and affect your body’s responses.

When you find your dream job and get called in for an interview, you must show that you are the right person for the job. If you prepare early on and practice, you can improve your chances in landing the job of your dreams.

just wanted to add that the interviewee should still be checking out the company. A mistake is to only want the job- but it could be a poor job fit or organizational culture fit.
So even if it is hard to do – the job hunter must be objective and look for red flags that might not make the job a good fit – it could save a lot of time later
