Is it Time to Look for a New Job?

Are you currently mulling over the prospect of resigning from your current job and getting a new one? If your answer is yes, you should not immediately send a resignation letter once you feel it because that decision may haunt you once you start job hunting.

But, when is it good to send a resignation letter and find a new job to hone your talents?

As a guide, here are the five signs that would tell you that it is time to look for a new job:

There is nothing for you to learn anymore

When you have been working on your position for quite some time, you will be able to do your tasks quickly and efficiently since you are already familiar with your tasks. However, if you are not asked to do new tasks, you can get bored doing the same thing all over again. If this is the case, it is time to consider new options.

You don’t see a possibility of a promotion or you just don’t want to move to a new task

If you have been in one position for a while and have taken other duties, you should have been given a raise or a promotion to match it. However, if your employers did not give you that or you have been passed on when they were considering a promotion, it is time for you to see if you can get that promotion in another company.

On the other hand, it may be possible that the new role they are trying to give you doesn’t fit your preferences and specialities. If this is the case, you should consider moving to a new company.

The company continues to change policies

It is not uncommon to hear about companies merging with other companies, getting new acquisitions and changing their organizational structures to the benefit of the company’s growth.

However, these changes do affect its employees, especially if a new owner steps in and changes your workplace entirely. If you start getting projects that aren’t your cup of tea or your new boss is difficult to handle, you could consider a new job.

The company you belong in is currently at risk

If you do get the job you want, but there are talks that your employers are at risk of dissolution and other business troubles, it may be the time to consider looking for new companies that can offer you job security.

You are at the burnout stage

If your job has taken over your life and you start losing the connections you have with your family, friends and even yourself, it is time to make a leap to a new job. Even if the job pays you a lot of money, you should also be given a time for yourself.

When you feel like your old job is pulling you down, you should not hesitate to see the options you have once you see the signs that it is time to call it quits. Resigning from your current job may be seen as a rash action, but once you are no longer burdened by your old job and in a new one, you may see the roads that were once unclear to you and help you bring your career to new heights.

  2. Some advice from one who HAS been there:

Never seek a new job is haste

Never Seek a New Job in anger

Never seek a new Job without thoroughly investigating {notice please I by intent did not use the term “checking out”; the difference is significant. IF at all possible speak to seceral longer term employees {not Senior Management} about how THEY VIEW {again not “feel”} about the company and its growth prospects.

And Finally; of your married it is BEST {not the only option}, just the BEST if both of you agree.
