Top 10 Worst Jobs in the World

When you are employed, chances are you may have one or two things to say against your boss, co-workers, and your work. You may rant about it silently or try looking for a job that fits your preferences.

If you are still applying for a job, there is a tendency you would snub off the jobs that are unsuited to your degree or background. You may even snub off jobs that may look simple, but actually, pay a lot.

However, before you go on a rant that you deserve better, there are jobs out there that can make you reconsider your words regarding your job or the jobs you are looking at.

Here are 10 of the worst jobs in the world:

The Death Row Executioner

Death is not a pretty sight, especially if you are the one tasked to kill the individual because of their crimes. Your morals, your mindset, and your constitution will be challenged with this “job” because each time there is a criminal to be executed, you may find yourself questioning if you are doing the right thing. You will also have to watch the whole punishment come to pass, which can be distressing and traumatic.

Crime Scene Cleaner

When a crime is reported, you would need to have a hardened constitution and heart to take what you are about to see in the job. For crime scene cleaners, they are the ones responsible to get the place all sorted out again and considering that crimes may leave gory things behind, cleaning it can be a challenging thing if you can’t stomach the things you may need to clean.

Splattered brains, anyone?

Sewer Cleaner

As the name implies, sewer cleaners are those who work down the sewers to ensure there are no blockages and other problems. In some countries, this job can be a bit manageable with the use of high-tech equipment. However, in countries like India, it is common to see men just jumping in these sewers – filled with waste, rubbish and other harmful substances – without any protective gear and do the cleaning or repairs manually.

Well, I do handle diapers everyday…

Animal Masturbator

In order for researchers to study how animals reproduce, it is important they gain sperm samples for study. However, getting samples can be quite tricky as it may require you to probe into the animal’s reproductive organ, use an artificial vagina and if you do not have a strong constitution, you may end up giving the animal manual masturbation by your own hand.

I have no words nor links for this job.

Road Kill Remover

When an accident happens on the road, there needs to be a person who would clean it up and make sure no gory parts are left behind.

Port-a-loo Toilet Cleaner

Port-a-loos are great if you are in the middle of nowhere during an event and you need to relieve yourself. However, for those tasked to clean it, it is a nightmare to do. They would have to contend to overflowing loos and all sorts of wastes or substances as they clean it.

They actually offer quite a high salary!

Slaughterhouse Worker

If you are planning to work on the food industry, you may find it difficult to work in a slaughterhouse. Animals will be brought in live in the slaughterhouse and killed. Once killed, the animal would then be cut apart, cleaned of its blood and organs, and cut into pieces for consumption. The same process will then be done for hours, which can be difficult to stomach.

Gravedigger

This job can be traced back for centuries and even now, this job remains one of the most unpopular jobs one can land on. Gravediggers would need to spend hours to dig a hole where a casket would soon be buried.

Their job requires them to do more than just digging a hole

Hazmat Diver

Similar to sewage cleaning, hazmat diving can be a dangerous business because it would entail a person to dive into a raw sewage and dangerous substances to do repairs or clean ups. Workers in this job would have to tick a lot of vaccination requirements and the use of cumbersome gear, which is essential if they want to stay healthy and free from any possible complications brought by the chemicals and substances they have to contend with during their work.

Listed as one of the most dangerous commercial diving.

Embalmer

Before a body is placed in a coffin and buried, they must be sanitized properly so it does not cause contamination and other problems. Embalmers are the ones who would wash and disinfect the body, and then carefully preserve it. They also do the hair and makeup for the body if necessary.

You actually need a degree for this job

Conclusion

These jobs are definitely some of the worst in the world, but these people who work in these jobs may not have a choice with these jobs they have.

So, before you complain about the jobs you can begin with or the unsatisfactory work environment, remember the jobs in this list and be appreciative that you have a good job that will see you through without challenging your constitution or your dignity.

  1. I knew someone who was going to school to become an embalmer so it doesn’t bother everybody.

      1. I always say that I wouldn’t want to be a coroner or a garbage collector but I’m glad that there are those people who do. The same goes for these jobs.

  3. Compassion for others is God’s gift to humanity.

The responsibility, and absolute need to provide for our loved one;s and yourself CAN be daunting. Our life-challenges are many and diversified, but each offers an opportunity to choose good over evil.

Life by God’s design is not supposed to be “easy.”; hence even the very rich suffer along with the rest of us.

This is an important reflection for all of us: IT COULD BE WORSE!

    God Bless,

  4. funny thing… years ago I was working as a professional psychic reader and a woman came in to ask me about a career change. While she did not tell me what it was that she did, my right hand kept moving back and forth, with my fingers appearing to be cupped around an imaginary tube of sorts. She looked at me strangely, then asked by I was doing that. I told her I had no idea that I was and stopped immediately. Then she laughed and asked me if I wanted to know what it was she did for a living. Curious, I said sure. She masterbated horses at an exclusive boarding stable not too far from where we were. Nuff said. I have also worked in the funeral industry and the embalmers had some interesting tales to tell, for sure.

  5. Although it is back-breaking work and I’d probably be sad, thinking about the dearly departed, I wouldn’t mind the grave digging job so much. That is, as long as I didn’t have to do it at night.

Nowadays, I believe they use machinery to dig up the earth, not so much as using a shovel but it is still under all kinds of weather.

The animal masturbator sounds likes such an odd job…but I guess it has to be done. I guess a worse job to someone is a job that they simply don’t enjoy doing and doesn’t match their strengths and skills no matter how hard they try.

    1. Kally says:

That will be a total waste of talent if your job don’t match your strengths and skill sets. I know far too many people in those kind of jobs and not knowing how they should get out of it.

Well, I think that the worst job is the job you don’t like :-). It might sound weird but I suppose there’re people who like being even gravedigger or animal masturbator. Yes, sounds terrible haha, a bit pervert but what if the person that works like that actually likes that? 🙂

    1. Well, with the gravedigger and the embalmer, they’re probably great jobs if you like working alone.

I highly appreciate my wife’s habit of cleaning up our toilet and bathroom everyday. Though me and my son always cleans it up properly after every usage, it is her’s final hands that locks up the seal.
