Trivia Time
I am a left-handed person. I know it is no biggie to a lot of you but being a left-handed puts me at a disadvantage. For example, camera shutter buttons are located on the right instead of left. What about we tend to smudge our words as we write from left to right? Not to mention the ink left on the underside of our wrist.

Here are some random facts of being a left hander. Enjoy!

  1. Left-handedness runs in families. Lefties in the British royal family include the Queen Mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Prince William.
  2. The Boston Strangler, Jack the Ripper, and Osama Bin Laden were lefties.

  3. Lefties are better able to multitask.

  4. Many sources claim that left-handers may die as many as nine years earlier than right-handers.

  5. August 13th is Left-Handers Day

  6. In many Islamic countries, people are forbidden to eat with their left hand, which is considered “unclean” because it is used for cleaning the body after defecation. Additionally, “public display” or use of the left hand is against the law in some Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia.

  7. About 50% of rats, cats, and mice are left pawed.

  8. Juniata College in Huntington, Pennsylvania awards up to $1,500 in academic scholarships to students who have top academic records and who are left-handed.

  9. About 30 million people in the United States are left-handed.

  10. In a recent experiment, left-handers who watched an eight-minute clip from the film Silence of the Lambs showed more fear than right-handers. Scientists believe that this may be because the right side of the brain is dominant in lefties and is more involved in fear responses.

My son, Uzair, is left-handed while his dad is right-handed. He often calls his right hand as left hand while eating, although he uses his right hand (as a joke may be).
One of my cousin is left-handed and she is a sweet girl. You are also, Kally. Being left-handed or right-handed doesn’t make a difference I say.

And oh!! Many congratulations on MiddleMe success. Linkedin will sure open many doors for you. I can smell it 🙂

The curious left hand, right hand, left brain, right brain phenomena comes to the party once again. Fascinating as always.
My wife changed from left handed to right after she was 30. It’s an interesting spiritual story. This just got me thinking about it.
